Sera’s House
Renos featured on CBC’s Debbie Travis series “All For One” Oct 31, 2010
Project summary
A home makeover totally unknown to Sera Mansueto, our Founder of Walls of Hope, because she was recognized and named 1 of 7 “Home Town Hero’s” for the popular Debbie Travis series “All For One” featured on CBC 2010/2011.
As the saying goes: “The shoemaker’s children have no shoes”… this applies to Sera, our amazing founder and leader.
Before any renovations could take place, we needed to clear “a lot of stuff”. The difference with this project’s pre-prep stage was most of “the stuff” to be cleared were items collected and stored in Sera’s home for future Walls of Hope projects; as we did not have a storage facility to accomodate any/all of the new or gently used items. Sera and her family have forgone living space and organization in the name of her cause. Sera’s home became the hub and a storage place for Walls of Hope and any personal renovations were put on hold to manage the demands of a growing non-profit cause.
The Walls of Hope team and many volunteers came out to help revamp multiple rooms in her home; while working under the direction of Debbie Travis and being captured on camera for the “All For One” episode. “It was a huge surprise for this amazing person who gives so much to her family and the Walls of Hope families (both recipients and her volunteer/sponsor family). Sera truly deserves it and so much more. Her passion and fierce loyalty to this cause is inspirational”, stated Allison Lane, a 2010 volunteer and now part of the leadership team
As part of the filming the project for the TV show for ”All For One”; Debbie, her crew, film and marketing agencies and members of the Walls of Hope leadership team organized a very special and entertaining event at Oliver & Bonacini Oakville. It was a truly fun and memorable night! Thank you to Debbie Travis, her team and all the women who came out to take part and support Walls of Hope and “All For One”.
Yes, it was…the début of the Walls of Hope Building Studs Calendar and the live auction of the “Walls of Hope Building Studs” to raise money and awareness for our non-profit organization. View event moments in our Photo Gallery under “project and/or fund raising event”. Calendars are still available for 2011
Walls of Hope is very pleased and grateful to say that Sera’s house will no longer be needed for storage. We have recently received a generous “gift in kind” by Oakville Place Mall to store our donated items for future projects - Thank you Oakville Place!
