The Craig’s

August 2009

Project Summary:

This is special single mom of twin boys, one with Cerebral Palsy, faced challenges and a point in life that most cannot comprehend the responsibilities and challenges she faced; no matter how positive or determined. Prior to Walls of Hope’s involvement, Val felt very isolated and her resiliency was depleting, even though she strived as a mother because of her sons. As a result of the accumulating challenges, she suffered from depression. Her home reflected the dark cloud she felt had over her. She also kept everything she came across; in hope that she could maybe use it or sell it to generate some income. Val was a person who came upon challenging time and needed a “helping hand”; that sign of hope….Walls of Hope was there.

Walls of Hope took 7 days to de-clutter and refurbish her townhouse, before revocations could begin.

First off, Walls of Hope’s volunteer team added our special touch to rejuvenate a “drab “kitchen and created a very special bedroom for the boys. (See photo gallery) Next. we created a work area in the basement for a home business she was starting and created an area for the boys to play while she worked. We completely revamped the backyard to provide an area for the family to relax and play.

Our biggest accomplishment with “Mom Craig” is she is an active member of the Walls of Hope team. “Mom Craig” feels hope, not hopeless. She can actually smile, without the weight of the world on her shoulders. We are so proud of her and the way she has taken “the good” provided by Walls of Hope and paid it forward in so many ways.

Testimonial

“Walls of Hope came into my life, changed my surroundings which helped to change my outlook on life. The people of Walls of Hope do this because they care about people and genuinely want to help. My boys & I are truly blessed to have them continue to be in our lives. We love them all!!” – Val Craig 2009
